LOS ANGELES – March 8, 2016 – Chrome River Technologies, a leading provider of expense management and supplier invoice processing software, today announced MERCURY, a new interface that uses an innovative Web app to allow secure and user-friendly travel expense management across any mobile, tablet or desktop device.

Chrome River’s MERCURY interface uses responsive Web design and rich Internet applications so that users get the same functionality and look and feel, whether on their smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Users simply use the smartphone’s camera to photograph receipts, which can be emailed directly into their expense report, or uploaded from the phone’s photo stream, and then automatically imported using Chrome River’s OCR (optical character recognition) software. MERCURY also enables users to switch seamlessly between devices without losing any data so that expense reports can easily be started on a smartphone and then completed on a tablet or laptop computer.

“We have 150,000 employees in 70 countries, and Chrome River MERCURY will assist us with producing operational cost savings through better mobility functionality and technology workflows, along with opportunities to foster higher levels of employee engagement using the newly designed user interface,” said Jeff Devier, Global Travel Expense Process Lead, Cargill. “Having a single interface across our Business Units and Functions, regardless of what device is being used, will greatly reduce the amount of training required for our employees, and also will streamline the process for employees submitting their expenses. MERCURY will simplify the expense reporting process for our employees, yet still allow us the control and financial insight required of large, global companies.”

“Today’s workforce is increasingly mobile, but also increasingly demanding that enterprise apps provide a consumer-level digital experience,” said Alan Rich, CEO of Chrome River. “We recognized, and are now meeting, the growing customer need for a rich, engaging user experience - across any device - that also maintains the sophisticated business rules logic necessary for expense reporting across complex global enterprises.

“We chose a mobile Web solution because it not only allows for the same deep level of functionality across all platforms, but also requires no additional installations, downloads or updates. It also ensures the highest level of security. End users can simply and easily complete the expense report process and then get on with their day. CFOs also get the same highly configurable system for enforcing even the most complex travel and expense management policies, and supervisors can easily view and approve expense reports while they themselves are on the go,” added Rich.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, with resources throughout the U.S. and EMEA, Chrome River provides industry-leading expense reporting and invoice management solutions that offer complete process automation and cost control for an organization’s accounts payable operations. The company raised a $100 million series D funding round from Great Hill Partners in June 2015, and its SaaS expense and invoice management solutions are accessed in over 90 countries across the globe.
